An inter-faith couple married for the second time, this time in a police station, following initial resistance from the bride's mother to the way their marriage was performed the first time round, police said.

The couple was in love for years and got married as per the traditions of the bride’s religion about four months ago. However, it transpired that the bride’s family had converted some years ago.

Her mother wanted the

groom to marry her daughter as per their previous religious traditions, police said.

The couple visited the police station four days ago and the groom married the girl in the presence of some relatives as per her mother’s desire.

The groom's family comprises his mother and a sister, who did not oppose the marriage. The groom works in a bank and the bride is employed in the software industry and they earn good salaries.
