Hyderabad: The indoor badminton courts at the Lal Bahadur Stadium have been a hub of activity for many sports. While the badminton trainees sweating it out under the tutelage of Dronacharya SM Arif is a regular sight, it also hosts many a events round the year that include the table tennis tournaments, wrestling competitions and other sport-related functions.
It is a multipurpose hall as it is also rented for sports as well as private functions on regular basis.

Constructed in 1970, the stadium is still one of the popular and historic sporting venues of the city. However, over the years, there is rapid deterioration in the conditions of the stadium which needs immediate attention. Recently,



India’s doubles shuttler Jwala Gutta submitted a letter to Sports Minister T Padma Rao for the renovation and the Minister himself came down to see the facilities last week. He ordered for the repair of the Stadium as soon as possible.

Speaking to reporters , Arif, who was present during the Minister’s visit along with Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman A Venkateshwar Reddy and VC and MD A Dinakar Babu, said that the Minister responded positively.

“The Minister had come down and we had a fruitful discussion. Many of us stressed the importance of upgrading the facilities at the stadium and he responded positively. We hope it will be done soon,” he said.
