Indian archer T. Chikitha, who scripted history by winning India’s first-ever individual gold medal at the World Youth (Under-21) Archery Championship in Canada, was accorded a warm reception on her arrival at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here on Thursday.
Telangana Sports Minister V. Srihari and Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiv Sena Reddy were among those
who received the champion archer.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srihari reiterated the State Government’s commitment to promoting sports in a big way and assured full support to deserving athletes.
Expressing her happiness, Chikitha said she was delighted with her performance and added that her ultimate dream was to win an Olympic medal for the country.
