Due to rainfall in the catchment area, inflows into the Himayat Sagar reservoir have been steadily increasing since Monday morning, leading to the opening of three gates.
“As the reservoir level is nearing its capacity, another gate of the Himayatsagar, was raised by 3 feet at 8 am on Monday and released 1,400 cusecs of water into the Musi River,” according to an official release.
The HMWSSB released the current data of the twin reservoirs to the media. “By 10 am, in Osmansagar, the
water level was 1,783 feet against the full tank level (FTL) of the reservoir at 1,790 feet. Simultaneously, 400 cusecs of inflow were received from upstream areas,” according to the official release.
“Inflows have been continuing for the past week in the Himayatsagar reservoir, too. The water level was 1,762.60 feet against an FTL of 1,763.50 feet, with 2,000 cusecs of inflow and an outflow of 2,400 cusecs. “One Gate is opened for 1 ft height and 2 gates are opened for 3 feet height,” an official release stated.
