The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, in its forecast on Monday evening, issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in four districts and heavy to very heavy rainfall in 20 districts of Telangana on Tuesday. A heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for Hyderabad and its neighbouring districts for the next 24 to 48 hours.

The red alert of extremely heavy rainfall, which could bring more than 204.4 mm of rain, has been issued for Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Mahabubabad districts.

The orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, which means 115.6 mm to 204.5 mm of rain, has been issued for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Siricilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Khammam, Suryapet,



Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy, Vikarabad and Sangareddy districts.

The yellow alert for heavy rainfall, which means 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm of rain, has been issued for Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

Apart from the rainfall warning, IMD Hyderabad also said that there will be thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places in all districts of Telangana on Tuesday and Wednesday.

At present, two low-pressure systems, one over the Bay of Bengal and another over Vidarbha, are contributing to widespread rainfall across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra and Gujarat, IMD Hyderabad said.
