HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath spoke to complainants on Monday spoke with complainants who turned up at the agency’s Prajavani programme on Monday. HYDRAA received 61 complaints, mostly about encroachments of government and private parkland, roads and lake full tank levels. From Kukatpally, residents of Diamond Hills filed a complaint that a nine-acre layout, which demarcated into 70 plots, was wiped out from the map and encroached.
The complainants stated that despite the High Court ruling in their favour in 2024, the encroachers are not budging.
Several complaints were filed from Nizampet Municipal Corporation’s limits. One set of residents reported that
1,800-sq. yard parkland in the Sai Lakshmi layout was occupied. Another complainant alleged that the park and road spaces in Survey No.s 153, 154 and 155, spread over five acres were missing. HYDRAA received another complaint that a 2.3-acre VNR park area had been encroached upon.
In Thumkunta municipality, locals alleged that a wall was built across a 40-ft road linking Devaryamjal and Kandlakoya, while in Bachupally mandal, encroachments were reported on FTL land and nearby government land at Turka Cheruvu. Ranganath assured the complainants that the agency would inspect documents and Survey of India maps and take action against encroachments.
