Hyderabad’s Tarnaka junction under flyover to close for vehicles from June 6

The Tarnaka junction under the flyover, which was reopened for vehicular traffic in April, will be closed again from Friday, June 6.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police had reopened it on April 18 for vehicular movement, on a trial basis, to facilitate travel between Osmania University and Lalapet, and vice versa.

During the trial period, traffic officials conducted simulation and drone-based studies, analysed Google data, tested various traffic signal timings, and reviewed



road engineering aspects at the junction. Feedback was also gathered from commuters.

All the studies indicated that it is not feasible to keep the Tarnaka junction under the flyover open. Authorities found it advisable to close the junction to ease traffic congestion, prevent road accidents, and ensure the safety of all road users.

In light of this, citizens are advised to note that the Tarnaka junction under the flyover will be closed for vehicular traffic starting Friday.
