Several parts of the city witnessed light to moderate rains on Friday evening, giving people much relief from the scorching sun. Due to the rain, the city temperature has dropped around 7 degree Celsius.

According to the forecast, the weather conditions are likely to remain the same throughout the week.

Many areas, including Kukatpally, Jubilee Hills, Secunderabad, LB Nagar, Begumpet and Alwal witnessed showers with lighting towards Friday evening. The skies which remained cloudy since morning had the rains coming down in spells in the city and the

suburbs.

The monsoon, which advanced into the South Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area, south Kerala and south Tamil Nadu, is expected to hit the State around the second week of June. The current rains are due to the north-south trough running from Telangana to south Tamil Nadu, which extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a thunderstorm warning for several districts of Telangana, including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Wanaparthy and Rangareddy.
