Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao today asserted that they are taking every step to ensure that Hyderabad will not face drinking water problem.

Informing  this in the State Assembly during a debate on drought and drinking water problem in the wake of Summer,  KTR said that they have brought Godavari waters successfully to the city to cater to the drinking water needs,  and alternative steps are being taken to address the drought. Against the present 660 mgd requirement every day, they  are able to supply 350 mgd and pressing tankers to supply the rest in the city,  he said. The Minister also said that as drinking water problem will be more during April and May, they  have geared up to address it. The Government is taking all measures to



bring down the effect of drought and drinking water woes,  he said.

            The Municipal Administration Minister  stated that  rural governance will be strengthened soon by recruiting 1778 village secretary posts. While 1000 posts will be filled up directly,  the rest will be through promotions, he added. KTR further said that they  have asked to engage 12 lakh workers under employment scheme from 8 am to 12 noon and 4 pm to 6 pm to avoid the effect of scorching heat. Besides that the officials were directed to provide tents, drinking water, first aid kits at the work places.
