The Hyderabad traffic police during the year booked 80,555 cases against the persons who were found using mobile phones while driving.

D Joel Davis, Additional Commissioner (Traffic), Hyderabad City said that using mobile phones while driving distracts the attention of drivers, reduces reaction time and is one of the main causes of road accidents.

“Using a mobile phone while riding or

driving endangers lives of other road users too,” he said.

The police conducted a special drive on Monday and Tuesday against the violation. A total of 2345 cases were booked against the persons found using mobile phones while on the move.

The traffic police said the special drives will continue in the coming days. It urged the people to report traffic violation on 9010203626 and 8712661690.
