The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 1,940 cases during a special enforcement drive against motorists driving without a valid driving licence across the city between March 1 and March 7.
Traffic officials conducted checks at several locations and verified driving licences of motorists. Those found driving without a valid
licence were booked under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Police warned that driving without a licence was a serious offence and increased the risk of road accidents. Officials also noted that insurance companies may reject claims if a driver involved in an accident is found without a valid licence.
