The City Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic diversions and parking arrangements in view of Bonalu celebrations and processions across older parts of the city including Karwan, Amberpet and Chilkalguda on August 9 and 10.
In the old city, major restrictions will be in force from 6 am on August 9 until the conclusion of the procession, and from 9 am on August 10 until the celebrations conclude. The road connecting Madina X Roads to Engine Bowli via Gulzar House, Charminar, Himmatpura, Nagulchinta and Aliabad will remain completely closed to vehicular traffic during the processions.
Several routes approaching Lal Darwaza, Charminar, Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Gowlipura, Moghalpura, Mirchowk, Nayapool and surrounding
areas will be diverted. Heavy vehicles approaching Chatrinaka from Old Chandrayangutta will also be diverted towards Santoshnagar and Chandrayangutta.
The police have designated parking facilities at locations including Devi Plywood area at Shahlibanda, Alka Theatre open ground, Arya Vaishya Mandir, VDP School Ground, Mithra Sports Club, Sree Venkateswara Temple premises, Phoolbagh Chaman Ground and Charminar Bus Terminal. Procession vehicles will be parked in a single line at Delhi Gate.
Officials said RTC buses will not be permitted towards Charminar, Falaknuma and Nayapul and will terminate at locations including Old CBS, Afzalgunj, Darulshifa X Roads, Chatrinaka and Engine Bowli, before taking alternate routes.
