Hyderabad roads turn hazardous due to heavy rains

Incessant rain has left several roads in Hyderabad in a dangerous condition, with potholes, eroded road surfaces and unfinished civic works making commuting hazardous, particularly for two-wheeler riders.

Motorists travelling through areas such as Dhoolpet, Mangalhat, Puranapul, Bahadurpura and Misrigunj are struggling to negotiate damaged stretches where the road surface has been washed away by continuous rainfall. Waterlogged potholes and uneven surfaces have increased the risk of accidents, forcing commuters to drive cautiously during peak



hours.

“The potholes are submerged under rainwater, and we never know how deep they are. Several riders have lost balance while trying to avoid them,” said Rajveer Singh, a resident of Dhoolpet.

Residents said that civic authorities had recently carried out pipeline-laying works at Ghode Ki Khabar, Joshiwadi, near the Gandhi Statue at Puranapul and Aghapura, but failed to restore the roads after completing the excavation. The stretches remain covered with loose gravel and sharp stones, making them unsafe for motorists and pedestrians alike.
