Hyderabad’s drinking water reservoirs have reached full capacity, providing relief to the city’s water supply systems.
The early onset of the monsoon has ensured that reservoirs are filled well before the expected dates, easing earlier concerns over water scarcity.
Compared to August 2024, water levels at all six drinking water sources, Osman Sagar, Himayat Sagar, Singur, Manjeera, Krishna (Akkampally tapping point), and Godavari (Sripada Yellampally tapping point) —
have recorded a notable rise this year.
The HMWSSB has issued flood warnings for Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs following heavy inflows from upstream areas. The floodgates of Singur and Manjeera were also opened recently to release surplus water after the reservoirs reached their full tank level (FTL) capacity.
With inflows increasing and all reservoirs at full tank level, the water board is drawing the agreed quantities of water from these drinking water sources.
