Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Thursday warned of strict legal action against those indulging in food adulteration for personal gain, stating that it poses a serious threat to public health.

Addressing a meeting of food business operators, he said adulteration was not just an illegal trade but an attack on society.

He revealed that in the past one month, the police registered 92 cases, seized around 62 tonnes of adulterated food and arrested 98 persons involved.

Sajjanar asked traders to maintain quality standards and ensure they possess valid licences. He also requested citizens to report food adulteration incidents immediately.
