Hyderabad police tightens security for Milad un Nabi, Ganesh immersions

With Milad un Nabi and Vinayaka Nimmajan falling close to each other, the police in the tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda are making tight security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations.

The Milad un Nabi is to celebrated on September 5 while Vinayaka Nimmajan processions will be taken out on September 6. With two events lined up on subsequent days, the police have begun holding meetings with peace committees to ensure peaceful atmosphere prevails across the city.

“Meetings were held across the city urging the citizens to cooperate with the police during the festivals. Focus is to onboard youngsters having influence in their localities to take forward the peace initiatives,” said a senior official of city police.

The police had also held talks with the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee and the Milad Juloos Committee seeking their cooperation.

It is learnt, the mega procession taken out on Milad un Nabi, is likely to be rescheduled to a later date.



“We are holding discussions with the committee to work out a new date for the procession,” said another police official.

As the police will be preoccupied with Ganesh Nimarjanam procession, bandobast for Milad Juloos also could be a challenge.

The police have identified several sensitive locations and intends to have adequate deployment of the force. Throughout the next 12 days, programs related to the Ganesh festival and Milad un Nabi will coincide in the city. “We are being careful while issuing permissions for programs so as to avoid any conflict,” said a police official from Cyberabad.

The police are also watchful regarding the decoration of the streets using flags,  banners, cutouts and buntings. The organizers were asked to inform the police in advance so that law and order concerns can be redressed.

The police are also keeping a tab on the social media platforms for hateful content.  For the festivals around 30,000 policemen will be deployed in the tri commissionerates.
