Hyderabad Police on Alert '5 Murders in 10 Days'

A spate of five brutal murders in the capital over the past 10 days has raised concerns over the growing activities of drug peddlers, cell phone snatchers and rowdy sheeters, with police facing criticism over inadequate surveillance of habitual offenders and anti-social elements. 

Several recent incidents are suspected to have links to disputes involving ganja sales and cash transactions. Police have also been focusing on criminal groups operating in isolated areas on the city outskirts, where patrolling remains a challenge.

Senior officials



expressed displeasure over the lax implementation of visible policing measures and directed officers to intensify surveillance. They instructed police teams to conduct vehicle checks every day between 5 pm and 8 pm and identify suspicious persons and vehicles. 

The suburban areas that have witnessed rapid population and industrial growth have emerged as a particular concern. Following the recent incidents, police are planning to strengthen patrolling in remote and isolated locations by deploying additional teams, including personnel from the Armed Reserve and Telangana Special Police.
