The Hyderabad Police have issued a ‘Fake Poster Alert’ after a digital poster, allegedly claiming that “new WhatsApp and phone call rules” were being implemented from tomorrow, went viral on social media.

The poster, written in Telugu, falsely claims that all phone calls and social media activities will be recorded, monitored, and saved by the government. It even lists misleading details such as

“three blue ticks mean the government has read your message” and “three red ticks mean legal action has started.”

Refuting these claims, Hyderabad City Police clarified through their official X handle that the poster was completely fake and not issued by them. “A digital poster with false claims is being circulated. The information in it is completely false and not issued by police,” the police stated.
