The city police on Thursday conducted a counselling session for 288 persons accused of mobile phone theft across seven zones in an attempt to get them to stop the crime.

Additional commissioner, crimes and SIT, M Srinivas warned repeat offenders of strict legal action while offering support for rehabilitation and skill development to those seeking reform. During the session, police officials advised the offenders to refrain from mobile phone thefts and other property

offences.

The police advised the suspects to reform, adopt law-abiding lifestyles, acquire employable skills, and earn their livelihood through legitimate means rather than resorting to crime for easy money.

The importance of leading a disciplined, dignified, and crime-free life was strongly emphasised, Srinivas said. The participants were also cautioned about the serious legal consequences of habitual crime, Srinivas said, according to a statement.
