A man from Hyderabad died and three of his family members suffered injuries during an attack on Riyadh airport in Saudi Arabia, where they were waiting for transit after performing Umrah as part of a 13-member group.
Mohammed Yusuf Ali, a resident of Mehdipatnam, was reportedly killed when a portion of the airport roof fell on him during the attack, allegedly carried out by the Houthis.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi confirmed Yusuf Ali’s death and appealed to the Centre to extend all possible assistance to the bereaved family.
“It’s been confirmed that Yousuf sahab has passed away in the attack. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” Asaduddin Owaisi said in a
statement.
Yusuf Ali’s son Amaan sustained a knee injury and underwent surgery, while his other son, Wasey, is receiving treatment for a leg injury. Asaduddin Owaisi said three of Wasey’s toes had been severed in the incident.
Yusuf Ali’s wife, Sameera, and daughter, Maryam, escaped unhurt. His aunt, Atiya Sultana, sustained head injuries and was receiving treatment, though she was believed to be out of danger.
Asaduddin Owaisi said he was in touch with Yusuf Ali’s brother-in-law in Riyadh and that the Deputy Chief of Mission had assured him that the family was being taken care of. He also urged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to ensure that all possible assistance was provided to the family.
