On November 29, the Hyderabad Metro will complete its five years of operation. The first service commenced from Miyapur on November 29 in 2017. At present, more than four lakh

people travel on the Metro every day on three corridors spanning a length of approximately 72 km. This is the second longest operational metro network in India after the Delhi Metro.

In an effort to identify and acknowledge the loyal commuters, the Metro had introduced personalised metro cards, that have the passenger’s picture and name on it, to select commuters with the most trips over a selected period of time.

Recently, the Telangana government requested the Union government to provide preliminary clearance for the Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro project. This phase will expand the existing Corridor 3 Metro line from Nagole to LB Nagar across a distance of 31 km from BHEL to Lakdikapul. The anticipated cost of Phase II is Rs. 8,453 crores. and it would be carried out as a jointly-owned project with funding from the Telangana and Union governments.

In addition to this corridor, it was intended to add five kilometres (km) to the current corridor 3 line, which runs from Nagole to LB Nagar and has four stops.
