Heavy rains on Friday triggered massive traffic jams due to water logging on the roads. The downpour which started around 2.30 pm continued till 6 pm, causing problems for residents in many areas. As heavy rain occurred in the evening during rush hour when people started leaving from offices and workplaces, traffic jams occurred in all the busy areas. Mehedipatnam, Masab Tank, Lakdi-ka-pul, Tolichowki, Nampally, Begumpet, Somajiguda, Panjagutta, Kukatpally, JNTU, Gachibowli, Secunderabad, Malakpet and various other areas witnessed heavy traffic jams.
Both two-wheelers and four-wheelers were stuck in traffic for hours, especially in areas where Metro Rail works are going on. It was reported that driving a single kilometer took at least 15-20 minutes,



near KBR Park in Jubilee Hills. Connecting roads in Jubilee hills were marooned to such an extent that water in the internal roads completely drowned the vehicles. The vehicular traffic came to a standstill on the PV Narasimha Rao Express Way for about three hours following an accident as four cars have dashed each other leading to the traffic jam.
Meanwhile, Met sources said that 6.4 cm of rainfall was recorded during the last 24 hours. Srinagar Colony received 4.8 cm, while Secunderabad recorded 3.4 cm. More rains predicted during the next one week across Telangana State as another low pressure area has been formed off AP coast. Light to moderate rainfall in a few places is expected in all 10 districts of Telangana from Septmeber 17 to 23.
