The city continues to reel under severe heatwave with mercury hitting 43 degrees Celsius for the first time this month.If predictions made by the local Met office is anything to go by, the city will continue to sizzle for the next 24 hours.

“Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places in the districts of North Telangana. Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius and the same is likely to be above 42 degree Celsius at isolated places in North Telangana and above 40 degree Celsius at many places over Telangana,“ the Met department said in a statement.Worse, officials say that there seems to be no respite from the



heat.

“For the past few days, there has been no formation of cumulonimbus clouds over the state or the city, and with a well-marked low-pressure zone over the East-Central Bay of Bengal keeping the Deccan plateau devoid of humidity, people are feeling very warm,“ said Dr K Naga Ratna, a senior scientist at the Indian Meteorological Department office here.

Mahabubnagar recorded the highest temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius in the State on Monday, according to the MeT department.Adilabad sizzled at 44 degrees Celsius, followed by Medak (43.3), Hyderabad (43) and Nalgonda (42.6).Khammam and Ramagundam recorded 42.4 degrees Celsius each.
