Dr K. Jayaraman, Director, DRDL exhorted young researches and engineers to focus on core engineering, especially in view of Hyderabad emerging as the hub of aerospace products for defense industries as well as exports.

He was the guest of honour at the inaugural session of International Conference on‘Computer Aided Engineering’ at GITAM University, here on Thursday. Dr Jayaraman said the country is in a position to produce all the required machinery and defense products, and able to export the same to 75 countries across the globe. Within 10 to 15 years, there will be no imports, he predicted. He also said the DRDL was planning to establish “Products Complete Simulation Centre” in the near future, he said. He also congratulated GITAM University on achieving high placements in engineering education.

Chief guest Prof. T. Papi Reddy, Chairman, Telangana State Higher Education Council, said CAE is crucial in accelerating product development process, engineering problems solving and various aspects of this fast growing area have a huge impact on national human development.

Prof. G.Subrahmanyam, Vice Chancellor, GITAM University, presided over the inaugural session. Prof. N. Siva Prasad, Director, GITAM School of Technology, highlighted the growing importance of CAE, that involves designing, analysis and manufacturing. Prof. J.N. Reddy, Texas A&M University, USA, Engineers, Prof. A. Satya Devi , Dr P. Eswaraiah, HoD, Mechanical Department also spoke.
