The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has urged more citizens to join water conservation efforts through the PAANI mobile app. As of Wednesday, 437 individuals had voluntarily registered through the board’s website, it said.

Anyone can register as a ‘Save Water Volunteer’ via https://erp.hyderabadwater.gov.in/walc/VolunteerRegistration.aspx and then download the PAANI app from

the Google Play Store. This enables individuals to identify and report instances of drinking water wastage or misuse in their surroundings.

Issues such as using drinking water to wash vehicles or floors, overflowing water tanks, or other forms of water wastage can be brought to the attention of the authorities. Based on reports from volunteers, officials will conduct field inspections and take appropriate action once the violations are verified. The identities of volunteers will be kept confidential.
