Water levels in Osmansagar and Himayat Sagar have continued to rise over the past few days due to incessant rains in the upstream areas.
Senior officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), led by Managing Director K Ashok Reddy, visited the reservoirs on Friday to assess the flood situation.
HMWSSB Managing Director directed officials to remain vigilant regarding water levels and to increase patrolling in the surrounding areas of the twin reservoirs, given the alerts issued by the Weather Department. He also
instructed officials to maintain the floodgates of the twin reservoirs in good condition and not to compromise on safety.
Since inflows have already commenced in the twin reservoirs, the Water Board had alerted revenue and other government agencies officials and advised them to continuously assess the flood situation and stay prepared.
He recommended coordination with the Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district administrative machinery, as well as GHMC and Hyderabad police officials, to be ready to tackle any situation and undertake necessary relief measures.
