Fifty-eight-year-old Saggam Anantha Laxmi Kumar, the General Manager (GM) of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) was remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a special court for ACB cases here. 

The ACB officials later sent him to Chanchalguda prison. The ACB arrested him after registering a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Kumar, who is posted in Project Division-VIII at HMWS & SB in Red Hills as he has acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of



income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

As this is an offence punishable u/s 13(1) (b) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, daylong searches were conducted on Tuesday at his residence and eight other places belonging to his relatives, friends, benamis and other associates. During the searches, documents relating to 18 acres of agricultural land in Nizamabad and Sangareddy, half a dozen open plots, three flats and one house in Hyderabad were found.
