Sore sight for the eye at the Begumpet Nala has now become a stunningly beautiful rain garden, thanks to the efforts of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

The HMDA had taken up the development and beautification of the storm water drain underneath the Begumpet flyover at the intersection of the Kukatpally and Yousufguda nalas. Apart from giving a facelift to the city’s landscape, the project also reduces mosquito breeding on the nala.

More such gardens are being developed in different parts of the city

in a phased manner.

With rains enabling smooth flow of water through the nala, the rain garden now has become quite a treat to the eye. The pictures of the rain garden were shared by Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Raingarden at nala near Begumpet flyover done by @HMDA_Go .. it’s completed & we have put up night lighting too @KTRTRS,” Arvind Kumar tweeted, tagging MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao too.
