The Division Bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice T Amaranth Goud on Wednesday directed the Director General of Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire services and District Fire Officer, Hyderabad, to augment the fire safety measures by employing more fire engines and staff at Numaish (Exhibition Grounds)The bench pronounced its detailed order after hearing the petitioner Khaja Aijazuddin, a practicing lawyer.

The petitioner submitted to the court that fire broke out on January 30 this year in the exhibition grounds and resulted



in a loss of lakhs of rupees to the outlet owners and even after such unfortunate incident no safety measures were taken to improve the situation. Sharath Kumar, Special Government Pleader, appeared for the government.

The bench also directed the Director General of Police to ensure deployment of adequate police personnel to avoid commission of any untoward incident at the grounds.  The bench directed the respondents to file affidavit and listed the matter to  February 25 for further hearing.
