Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad last evening. Downpour continued late into the night in different areas.

In a tweet, Hyderabad civic body’s Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management Director asked people to stay indoors. The rain triggered waterlogging at several places in the city, affecting traffic and also entering the cellars of several apartments in different areas. Many places faced disruption in electricity supply.

recorded 68.8mm of rain in Balanagar, 66.8mm in Jubilee Hills, 64mm in Yousufguda, and 58.8 in Srinagar Colony. There were reports of heavy downpour in LB Nagar and surrounding areas well.

The rains also triggered traffic snarls in Paradise area, Somajiguda, Aramghar, Gachibowli, Shaikpet and other areas.

There were videos being shared on Twitter of flooded streets in Srinagar Colony and other areas. At 8.40 pm, the Director, EV&DM, GHMC tweeted pointing out that moderate to heavy rainfall would continue over the city for the next one hour. “Citizens are advised to stay indoors. Dial 040-29555500 for DRF assistance,” the EV&DM director tweeted.
