Massive rains accompanied by thunderstorms lashed almost all parts of Hyderabad on Wednesday evening with some regions witnessing a record 88.8 mm of rainfall within an hour or two.

Based on hourly rainfall data of Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), by Wednesday night 11 pm, a record 88.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Khalender Nagar community hall, Bandlaguda area followed by 85 mm of rainfall at Malakpet Millath Community Hall at Amberpet, 83.8 mm at Asmangadh in Saidabad and 81.3 mm of



rainfall at Palton Community Hall in Amberpet.

GHMC Transport Building, Saroornagar recorded 80.8 mm of rainfall, Moosarambagh Ward office, Uppal witnessed 77.5 mm, Saroornagar, LB Nagar received 71.5 mm.

As a result of heavy downpour that happened within a short time frame, a large number of low lying residential areas, main roads and colonies in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy got inundated under sheets of rain water.
