The first bio-gas plant in Telangana to produce CNG from household waste will be inaugurated in Siddipet on Monday. The plant, costing Rs 6 crore, has been set up at Swachha Badi in Basavapur.

With the objective of putting wet waste collected from households in Siddipet town to best use, the civic authorities built Swachha Badi where they have also set up the bio-gas plant.

According to officials, Siddipet town has 40,000 families and 1.46 lakh, residents. The garbage collectors have been collecting 25 to 30 tonnes of wet waste from households every day.

The entire wet waste collected from households will be crushed initially in the plant and that will be stored in a pre-digestion plant for three



days which will be later released into another tank. The staff will release micro organisms into the tank where Methane gas will be generated. After extracting CNG from Methane, the gas will be filled in cylinders. Finance Minister and Health Minister T Harish Rao, who will inaugurate the plant on Monday, said he feels proud to have such a plant in Sididpet.

Saying that Siddipet Municipality has already set up an example by converting the waste into organic fertilizer, Rao said that they will show a way to keep the waste to best use with Biogas generation. Terming the entire activity is an environmental-friendly, the Minister said that they could successfully do effective waste management with the collective efforts of citizens and municipal staff.
