The Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) of Hyderabad police in joint coordination with the GHMC’s Food Safety Department conducted a major enforcement drive against certain spice trading and processing establishments across the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits. 

The special crackdown aimed to curb use of harmful-to-human chemicals as adulterants, eliminate misbranding, ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, and protect public health.

Based on credible information from the public, the special enforcement was held. During the operation, enforcement teams inspected 13



business establishments and independent business locations which were actively engaged in the procurement, processing, and wholesale or retail trading of spices and also indulging certain offences affecting human health. 

A total of 25 tonnes of various spices found to be containing certain dangerous chemicals and hazardous substances were seized during the raids.

Consequently, three criminal cases were registered across three police stations, and three individuals responsible for the same have been arrested till now, Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
