As many as 19 sarpanch candidates and 220 ward members were elected unanimously in Khammam in the first phase of gram panchayat elections.
As 19 sarpanches were elected unanimously out of the 192 posts notified in the first phase, elections would be held for the remaining 173 sarpanch posts. Similarly, out of 1,740 wards, elections would be held for the remaining 1,520 wards on December 11.
In Kothagudem, out of the 159 sarpanch posts notified for polls, 14 sarpanches were unanimously elected and elections were held
for 145 sarpanch posts. Likewise, out of the 1,436 wards, as many as 336 ward members were elected unanimously and 1,097 wards would go to polls.
In the second phase elections in Khammam, 1,055 candidates filed nominations for 183 sarpanch posts notified for polls in six mandals. As many as 4,160 nominations were filed for 1,686 wards notified for polls.
In Kothagudem, 798 candidates filed nominations for 155 sarpanch posts notified for polls, while 3,465 candidates filed nominations for 1,384 wards notified for polls.
