Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday said that the State government was working towards providing quality higher education to all sections of the society.

The Governor, who inaugurated a government high school at Raj Bhavan Staff quarters, constructed with a cost of Rs 4.5 crore, expressed confidence that the State government will not allow education to turn into business.

In his address, the Governor said that instead of treating students as machines, they should be taught the virtues of human values and ethics. He also promised that he would visit the school



frequently to track its functioning and progress and wished the institution to become a role model in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the State government is giving a higher priority to education sector. Government has established 510 residential schools for various sections of people to strengthen government schools, and will conduct recruitments for 1,061 posts soon, he added.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, MLA C Ramachandra Reddy and Mayor Bonthu Rammohan were also present.
