Kothagudem: Water level in river Godavari at Bhadrachalam has been increasing for the past couple of days in view of heavy rains in its upper catchment areas.
Godavari tributaries like Wainganga, Wardha and Sabari have been overflowing due to the rains, and it caused Godavari to receive huge inflows. Water level on Thursday at 6 am was 23.30 feet, and it reached 34 feet at 8 am on Friday
at Bhadrachalam, said Central Water Commission officials. The first warning level is 43 feet.
The rain situation in the district remained normal, as there was no rainfall in the majority of the mandals. The district officials have alerted the residents in low-lying areas to be cautious in view of the increasing Godavari flood level.
