GHMC to set up more Covid care centres

Sat 22 May 2021, 11:14:49
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is launching free Covid care centres across the city. While three such centres in GHMC Serilingampally zone and one in LB Nagar zone are already operational, three more are coming up in GHMC Kukatpally zone this week.

The municipal corporation has identified 30 buildings – one per each GHMC circle – to set up these centres. They will be made operational depending on the needs that arise in terms of Covid cases in the days to come, officials said.

The civic body started these centres for people who are unable to isolate themselves due to space constraints at their homes and other reasons.

Apart from ambulance

facility, these centres are provided with health assistance by doctors, round-the-clock monitoring of health, breakfast and two meals. Oxygen concentrators too are kept on standby, and GHMC officials have also prepared a list of hospitals to shift the patients under isolation in case of emergency. As on date most of these services are being utilised by people who belong to economically weaker sections.

On Friday, GHMC zonal commissioner for Kukatpally zone, V Mamatha along with other officials inspected three proposed isolation centres located in Kukatpally, Moosapet and Awal circle. To run these three centres, the officials have entered into an agreement with Hope Foundation.
