The GHMC will organise ‘Project Udvasana’, a special drive to collect sacred waste from citizens, at 29 temples on August 29 from 8.30 am to 11 am.

On Thursday, the GHMC released a list of temples identified across six zones, including Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda and Khairatabad. Citizens can deposit old idols of gods and

goddesses, religious photographs, calendars and other sacred items at the designated temples in their respective civic zones.

Volunteers will remove the collected items after priests at the temples perform the ‘Udavasana’ ritual. The material will then be sent for sustainable recycling and responsible processing, according to a press release.
