GHMC to issue ward wise rankings

The Municipal Corporation will start releasing the ranks of the wards on a monthly basis from next month onwards,.Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will now be ranked every month based on a host of parametres including sanitation, Swachh Bharat, Swacch auto trolley maintenance etc.

The decision to this effect was taken during a meeting convened by GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy with Deputy Commissioners here on Tuesday.

Among all the parameters, marks will be awarded to segregation of dry and wet waste, transportation of the waste through Swachh autos to



transfer stations, biometric attendance of sanitary workers, curbing open defecation and garbage burning, vermicompost plants maintenance etc., said Reddy.

Maintenance of toilets in commercial complexes and establishments, levying penalties for those violating rules will also be considered while ranking the performance of a ward, he explained.“This initiative will trigger a healthy competition among the wards and will help in maintaining the colonies neat and clean,” said Reddy.

GHMC is already issuing monthly ranks to Deputy Commissioners based on their performance.
