GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan instructed officials to implement comprehensive measures to prevent the spread of dengue in the city.
On Saturday, the Commissioner held a review meeting with health officials and said, “Medical officers should personally visit slums, homes, and apartments to conduct anti-larval operations in areas where stagnant water may lead to mosquito breeding.” He also directed that anti-larval operations be taken up in schools, colleges, and government hostels next
week. Regular fogging should be carried out in government hostels every week. A special action plan should be prepared to prevent mosquito breeding in the Musi River and reservoirs, the GHMC official said.
The Commissioner mandated ELISA tests for dengue diagnosis and called for widespread testing of fever patients.
Karnan, who reviewed the progress of the road safety drive, asked officials to ensure that all works, including pothole filling, are completed by next week.
