This initiative, known as ‘ploughing’, was already adopted in foreign countries and the GHMC took steps to replicate the same in the city.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said this initiative was being taken up to make citizens responsible in keeping their surroundings clean. He said efforts were being made to involve

citizens in the initiative and to be directly a part of the Swachh Hyderabad campaign.

He said that from the level of Deputy Commissioner to medical officer, officials should to take the initiative as a responsibility and meet morning walkers associations, colony welfare associations and other committees.

Meanwhile, morning walkers on Tuesday took part in ‘ploughing’ programmes at various places such as Shyamalakunta Park, Sanathnagar, Langar Houz main road and Cantonment colony and cleaned plastic bottles, covers and other trash.
