The General Body Meeting of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be held on December 18 and the Standing Committee meeting has been slated for December 8.
Any infrastructure or development with a budget of more than Rs 2 crore taken up by the civic body has to be approved by the Standing Committee, which is the apex body of GHMC. However, works of less than Rs 2 crore can be approved by GHMC Commissioner or Zonal Commissioners.
For works ranging between Rs 3 crore and Rs 6 crore, the civic body has to place the proposals before the General Body Meeting and if the works exceed Rs 6 crore, they
have to be sent to the State government for approval through the Standing Committee.
At the Council meeting, the corporators raise issues of their respective wards in the presence of the Mayor, GHMC Commissioner and Head of the Departments (HODs). This meeting is also attended by ex-officio members which include MPs, MLAs and MLCs who are part of the GHMC council.
The Standing Committee meeting is attended by the 15 corporators who are the committee members and senior GHMC officials including the Commissioner. Both the meetings are chaired by the Mayor.
