Enforcing the Model Code of Conduct, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Sunday removed several banners, flexis and hoardings setup by different political parties.

GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore said that with Election Commission of India announcing the dates for conducting elections in the State, the Public Defacement Act has been implemented in the city.

He said that the civic body officials along with vigilance and enforcement wings were involved from Saturday night in removing the hoardings and flexis in different parts of the



city.

A total of 18,000 sanitary workers, disaster and rescue staff have removed small and other promotional material, he said adding that around 80 per cent of flexis attached to walls and electric poles have been removed and the process will be continued.

Kishore instructed officials to remove the material about public schemes in all government offices and buildings immediately. Orders have been issued to advertisement agencies to remove ads of political parties, leaders and government schemes from their hoardings, he added.
