The GHMC has proposed a two-lane unidirectional steel flyover at the NFCL junction, popularly known as Nagarjuna Circle, to ease severe traffic congestion at one of the busiest junctions in the city.
The GHMC standing committee has already given the green signal to invite tenders for the project, which features a steel flyover stretching from Road No. 3 to GVK Mall.
In 2022, the then BRS government built the city’s first steel bridge on Road No. 3, Banjara Hills, near Chutney’s, and decongested traffic coming from the TV9 junction.
Now, another one-way steel bridge is set to come up at the junction and span from Road No. 3, Banjara Hills, towards GVK Mall.
“Hundreds of vehicles are caught in traffic jams while proceeding towards Punjagutta Circle and the Punjagutta up ramp towards Praja Bhavan, Begumpet and Secunderabad during peak hours. At the same time, traffic from Jalagam Vengalrao Park, Masab Tank and Mehdipatnam proceeding towards Punjagutta and Praja Bhavan gets accumulated at the NFCL junction, resulting in traffic congestion,” a senior GHMC projects wing official told Media.
