The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced that cash payments will no longer be accepted for property tax, trade licence fee and vacant land tax across its jurisdiction with immediate effect.

Following the recent merger of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) into GHMC, the Corporation said it is moving to ensure a uniform tax collection system across all circles. Cash collections, which were already discontinued in the existing 30 GHMC circles, have now been barred in the newly merged areas as well.

Thus,

property owners in the extended GHMC jurisdiction will have to make payments only through non-cash modes, including cheques, Demand Drafts (DDs), UPI, credit and debit cards, and net banking, at bill collectors and Citizen Service Centres, a press release said.

The decision is aimed at strengthening accountability, reducing manual handling of cash and promoting digital transactions in civic services. GHMC appealed to citizens to cooperate with the new system and use the available digital and banking channels for payment of municipal taxes and fees.
