The GHMC has fixed user charges for collection of solid waste across the city. The charges vary from Rs 50 for domestic waste to Rs 5,000 for function halls and exhibitions, etc.
Speaking to mediapersons after a day-long workshop to ensure the effective solid waste management system in the city, at the Administrative Staff College of India here on Wednesday, GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy said the Corporation had fixed Rs 50 for households and Rs 500 for commercial establishments, shops, eateries and coffee houses. 
He said that the Corporation would collect Rs 750 from all guest houses and restaurants (with no star rating), Rs 1,500 from 3-star hotels, Rs



3,000 from hotels above 3-star category, Rs 700 from governments offices, educational institutions and offices, Rs 400 from clinics, dispensaries and laboratories, Rs 1,000 from non hazardous industries (Rs 10 per kg solid waste) and Rs 5,000 from function halls, convention centres, exhibitions and others in an area of 3,000 sqmt and above.  
He said that the user charges to collect solid waste would be enhanced by 10 per cent every three years.The GHMC Commissioner said that the Corporation would impose heavy penalties for dumping solid waste in public places. He also said that the Corporation would cancel the trade license and file criminal cases on violators.
