GHMC deploys 280 cranes, 136 action teams 'Ganesh immersion'

For Ganesh idol immersions on Friday, the GHMC, in coordination with line departments, has installed 110 static and 170 mobile cranes at baby ponds and major lakes and tanks. 

The civic body also formed 136 Ganesh Action Teams, which would be deployed at intervals of 3 to 4 km along procession routes. Each team will comprise a sanitary supervisor, three SFAs and 21 workers.

Around 6,000 sweepers will assist the teams, while 770



sanitation workers will be deployed round the clock at immersion points. Garbage will be collected and disposed of daily, including on immersion day, using about 42 mini-tippers and 10 JCBs operated through HIMSW, besides the regular fleet.

Authorities have installed 43,270 temporary lights at lakes, baby ponds, procession routes and approach roads, with regular inspections planned. Ambulances and paramedical staff will be arranged in coordination with DMHOs.
