The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has started its crackdown on unauthorised banners, hoardings, posters etc in the city on Monday and collected penalties of over Rs 18,000.
The municipal corporation had announced that Public Defacement Act would be implemented strictly and action would be initiated against violators from New Year. Accordingly, the civic body officials cleared several unauthorised banners, posters,

flexies, cutouts, hoardings, and photographs.
The objective was to make Hyderabad a neat and clean city devoid of any banners, flags and defacement of public and private properties in all the municipal circles, said GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy in a press release. The GHMC has also established circle-level committees with Deputy Commissioner as Chief Enforcement Officer to monitor the drive in their respective areas.
