GHMC enforcement department carried out raids on pubs, bars and restaurants in Banjara Hills on Thursday and seized 9 establishments for running business sans trade licence and without following fire and safety measures.

According to officials, they have seized 17 pubs, bars and restaurants till now.According to GHMC officials, out of more than 800 pubs and bars within GHMC limits, 400 to 450 pubs and bars in the city were running without trade license. Notices have been issued to 120 out of 650 establishments are running businesses in the area. While 100 out of 120 establishments immediately implemented the measures under GHMC and Fire Safety Act and increased the security measures on their premises.

After thorough checking, the



officials issued them the NOC certificates. The officials said they conducted awareness programmes and gave them sufficient time to implement the rules and regulations. Those who neglected their advice and running the businesses with violations, officials served them notices and when they did not give the reply, seized their establishments.

The officials said those who violate the rules and break the seal will be prosecuted under the criminal law.He said with the ground report from their mufti teams and recce teams they seized 12 Hyderabad Kitchen Grill in Banjara Hills. The officials also clarified that after the target of pubs, bar and restaurants, they are going to target schools and hospitals for the safety of public.
