Ganesh idols pass Mecca Masjid amid Friday prayers, heavy security

The police made elaborate security arrangements at Charminar on Friday in view of the Friday prayers and the large gathering expected at the Mecca Masjid.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Khare and other senior police officers are present at Charminar to monitor the situation and review the security arrangements. 

As a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident,



personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the Commissioner’s Task Force were deployed in and around the Charminar area.

Despite the heightened security, there appeared to be no signs of tension among citizens.

Small Ganesh idols continued to pass in front of the Mecca Masjid even as the Friday sermon was under way, with police personnel maintaining a close watch over the area.
